本文共有三章.第一章具体介绍1959年至1963年的《上海文学》,包括其变迁,创刊背景,生存环境等内容.第二章重点研究《上海文学》作为代表性的地方文学期刊所拥有的地方色彩.作为地方性文学期刊,《上海文学》的出现彰显了其独特的地方特点,即刊物面向大众,贴近生活,尤其是都市生活,与时代同呼吸.另外从期刊对新上海物象的描写,介绍新时代所特有的工厂,街道和城市人民公社,反映时代的变化.《上海文学》尤其注重对青年工人作家的培养,本文细述了其对此类作家的培养过程和成果,以及工人作家的刻意培养造成工业题材文学的迅速发展的状况.第三章选取代表国家文学的《人民文学》与代表地方文学的《上海文学》进行比较分析.从作品样式（题材）的相仿,中心话题的趋同,公共空间的共鸣等三个方面细看地方文学对国家文学的呼应.文章的重心集中在第二、三两章,力求通过解读具体的文本,在仔细对照的情况下得出地方文学对国家文学的呼应之处,以及获取《上海文学》本身所具有的自身独特性.
