China has had a new surprise with the birth of twin giant pandas.GuoGuo ,seven years old and a first-time mother ,gave birth to two cubs this summer at the China Giant Panda Research Center based in Wolong,Sichuan.GuoGuo appeared nervous about the crying cubs at first,and she accidentally dropped one of her babies when they were born,so the experts had to help her.
Newborn pandas are blind ,very small and almost without fur .The twin babies have safely passed the first three risky days and are growing healthily under the care of the center's expers.
The giant panda is widely loved ,and of course,very important to the WWF as it has biin the organization's symbol since 1961.Today,the giant pandas'future is uncertain.This peaceful,bamboo-eating member of the bear family is one of the world's most endangered species.with fewer than 1,600 living in the wild in western China.Their homes have been slowly disappearing,and the birth rate is dropping.
