代词someone是单数,只能用he or she表示,不过这样略显多余,建议把someone改成some people,这样就可以用复数代词they了；另外contact作为动词主要是指以书信、电话联系,这里用名词片语lose contact或stay out of contact会比较好.

Sometimes you think some people mean a lot to you,but once you lose contact,they (口语通常会在此处加个just,不过书面英语中just只能和过去式连用) disappear.
