原句：We may define chemistry as the science in which we deal with the chemical change in matter as a result of which it is possible to form a new substance.
句子的意思我能明白：我们可以说,化学是论述物质化学变化的科学,通过化学变化可能形成新的物质.
但是具体的句子成分有点弄不清楚,as之后的内容做什么成分,as a result of which做状语?那之后的it is.做什么成分?书上说是which引导的定语从句,先行词是chemical change,那which之前的as a result of 做什么成分,which在它所引导的定语从句中怎么理解,总不能说(chemical change)it is possible.,即使作状语也理解不通啊
