Once a farmer had an ass and a dog.
The ass worked hard all day.The dog didn’t work at all.But he could play wonderful tricks.So the farmer liked the dog very much and he even put the dog on his lap.
The ass was sad when he saw the dog living a happy life.He thought that his own life was so hard.He wanted to live a good life like the dog’s.
‘I wish the master would love me as much as he loves the dog,’ said the ass.
‘I work hard every day,much harder than that dog.But the master loves that dog better than me.Maybe if I too act like the dog,and sit on the master’s lap,the master will start loving me.’ The ass decided to try his best to make the master happy.
One day,when nobody was around him,the ass ran into the kitchen.There the farmer sat at a table.The ass ran to the farmer and started jumping around him like a little dog.And at last,he tried to sit on the farmer’s lap.The farmer was so frightened that he shouted for help.His friends heard the shouting and came to help.They pulled the ass out of the house and beat him nearly to death.
