那可不可以这样理解：首先,这句话They caught him cheating on the exam.
主They 谓caught 宾him 都完整,然后cheating on the exam只是做宾补,所以用宾格him
然后这句话：I don't mind his critizing me so severely.
如果按照第一句话的结构理解:主语I 谓语mind 宾语his critizing me so severely.结构也完整了.那么如果用him的话,可不可以理解为 critizing me so severely做宾补?

我的理解是两种结构的句子：
1）They caught him cheating on the exam
主+谓+宾+宾补,这样的结构,多与动词的意思有关,如：catch,watch,等等,多为感官动词
又如：
I saw him coming here this morning.
I heard some one knowing at the door.
I can sense some one walking to and fro outside.
2）I mind his critizing me so severely.
也是主谓宾结构,但有收到动词mind的习惯用法,意思：介意做某事
mind就后面跟动名词：Would you mind my saying so?
这类动词还有forgive等
